Research Coordinator

(Full-time, Hong Kong-based)

Job Summary

Beginning in July 2020, CATALYST Education Lab (CEL), a Hong Kong education non-profit, will engage with Project Zero (PZ), a research center at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, on a three-year study entitled “Envisioning Innovation in Education” (EIE). The goal of this collaborative inquiry is to further promote and investigate the practices of inquiry, innovation, and learning design amongst a cohort of educators and a team of school principals in Hong Kong.

 

CEL is seeking a full-time Research Coordinator based in Hong Kong that will support the PZ-based research team in conducting research-related activities in coordination with Hong Kong schools.

Responsibilities

The Research Coordinator will contribute to all parts of the project. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Work collaboratively with the CEL team as well as PZ’s research team

    • Participate in regular online meetings that may involve early morning or late night calls due to time difference

    • Spend approximately six weeks (two weeks per year) in residence at PZ in the U.S. with the research team

  • Be the direct contact person for Hong Kong principals, educators and staff in schools for all matters related to the Study

    • Call or visit schools to answer questions about and/or support research activities

    • Periodically facilitate study group discussions at participating school sites

    • Support PZ-based research team in managing data generated by and collected from school cohorts

  • Help design overall research strategy and execution of the plan

    • Engage in data collection (through facilitating study group sessions and conducting interviews, focus groups, surveys etc.) and qualitative data analysis (coding according to project protocols)

    • In collaboration with the PZ research team, write and disseminate case studies, articles, papers, etc., drawing on relevant literature, observations, and research from the work with Hong Kong schools 

  • Represent the EIE Study to varied audiences through presentations and workshops at conferences, institutes, and/or convenings 

  • Contribute to the creation, testing, and dissemination of project materials

Qualifications & Experience 

  • Experience with project management or background in qualitative research

  • Fluent in written and spoken English as well as Chinese (Cantonese) 

  • Experience working in the field of education, Hong Kong experience preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Education (or related field) preferred
